Fast 911 response starts with fire stations that are safe, reliable, and ready.

Richmond’s firefighters respond to fires, medical emergencies, accidents, and disasters from seven fire stations across our city.

Some of those stations are more than 80 years old. Years of deferred maintenance have left Richmond with cracked walls and foundations, leaking roofs and pipes, outdated electrical and plumbing systems, seismic deficiencies, and facilities that no longer meet the needs of a modern emergency-response system.

The upgrades and repairs to these stations will last 30 years; the smart, responsible move is to finance them over that period. Not using short-term funding like the Polluters Pay settlement or transfer taxes.

Measure Q provides dedicated funding to repair, rebuild, and modernize Richmond’s aging fire stations so our emergency-response system is ready when we need it most.
